The Sunday Supplement with Oliver Rowe
Lazy like a Sunday evening sums up what's planned on Eastgate FM's Sunday Supplement show from 8-10pm. We'll be looking at local news from the week gone by and welcome Basildon guests into the studio to tell us what they are up to in the run up to Christmas. All this, much more and the finest lazy Sunday evening music to ease you gently from one week and into the next. Guests so far on the Sunday Supplement have included representatives of the churches in Basildon and the Chamber of Commerce, plus the retiring chief executive of Basildon District Council. Rev Esther McCafferty, of St Martin's Church in Basildon town centre, was joined in the studio by the Salvation Army's Andrew Southcote, who is also chairman of Churches Together - bringing together all the faiths in the town. Music brought in by Esther and Andrew was of Salvation Army brass bands and Cliff Richard. His Millennium Prayer is a particular favourite of Esther's. The Chamber of Commerce's Linda Westall turned to Eastgate FM to help revive the Chamber's activities in Basildon. With more than 3,000 companies in the town the Chamber would like to be more active in Basildon. Linda explained to listeners what the county and country-wide network of Chambers has to offer Basildon employers in the hope of kickstarting local membership numbers. ![]() John Robb retires from Basildon District Council this Christmas after almost 20 years service in the town. For the last nine years John has been council chief executive and he appeared on Eastgate FM to explain more about what's involved in running such a huge organisation. Outside of work John loves his music. As a John Peel fan he brought along music by the Undertones - a band loved by the late BBC Radio DJ. Email the studio! |
